Our class has 21 amzing children who are eager to learn new skills and utilise their existing knowledge to discover and engage through a variety of learning approaches. Our aim in Year 1 and 2 is to challenge ourselves during our learning journey as we work towards being the best that we can be as individuals and a team.

We are currently working on Cycle A of our Y1/2 curriculum.

English

In English, we will be reading 'Troll Swap' and 'The Owl Who Was Afraid of The Dark' as our key texts to link to our topic. We will be learning and developing a range of skills to expand our literacy knowledge further through story writing, non-chronological reports and descriptive writing.

Mathematics

The children will be revisiting their learning about number, place value, written and mental methods for all four operations moving from 1 digit numbers onto 2 digit numbers and introducing them to hundreds. They will also be looking at measurement, money, time and statistics. We will look at developing their reasoning strategies by exploring a range of problem solving questions. This helps deepen their understanding further and think of various approaches to their mathematical work.
