Safeguarding & Wellbeing

At Malpas Alport Pirmary School, we take the safeguarding of our all of our pupils very seriously. Our ethos promotes the wellbeing and welfare of all pupils, including their families and places Safeguarding at the heart of all that we do. Ensuring children feel safe and teaching and demonstrating appropriate and safe relationships is crucial to this ethos. We take a trauma aware approach to all our stakeholders so that we are in the best positon to support them, identify signs and symptons of abuse and neglect and improve life chances.

We have key policies to help keep our pupils to be safe and we encourage parents to read these documents. The Headteacher regularly meets with the Safeguarding Governor and the Health and Safety Governor to monitor the safety of our whole school community. We use questionnaires to gain the views of our pupils and parents throughout the year so that we can evaluate practice and continually improve.

In conjunction with Cheshire Police, Malpas Alport Primary is involved in an initiative called Operation Encompass.  The purpose of Operation Encompass is to safeguard and support children and young people who have been involved in, heard or witnessed a domestic abuse incident. Following such an incident, children will often arrive at school distressed, upset, worried and unprepared. Operation Encompass aims to ensure that appropriate school staff (called Key Adults) are made aware early enough to support children and young people in a way that means they feel safe and included.  At Malpas Alport our Key Adult is Headteacher Mrs Nic Wetton   This is a valuable initiative that means we can continue to support and help children and families within our school community when they need it the most.  You can find our more by visiting www.operationencompass.org
